New Vid - Wonderful Things of UAH
So school has started back and with it a bunch of school work and Crusade stuff. Here's a fun video I made for last week's CRU, showing off some of the ridiculous/silly/funny/stupid things about UAH. We had a lot more ideas than the ones used, but meh, maybe we'll do another one later! I'll try to keep this blog up to date with videos from the semester as I do em. Here ya go!

Can I complain? OK!
Because I feel the need to complain. Seriously.
(if you hate negative posts. skip to the bottom, woo! but don't skip the first 2 paragraphs... or else.)
This week, is going to SUCK. It's going to be awful. Horrendous. Normally I can't predict these things and I don't even like predicting these things. It's like the last time I went to the dentist - I didn't want to go because I knew it was going to be awful - turns out I was wrong. It was the first time ever that she didn't scold me for not flossing 8 times a day. That was my mistake, shouldn't have been negative. This is more like the time when I knew putting duck intestine in my mouth was going to be an awful experience, and I did, and it was an awful experience. I know this week like I knew that duck intestine was a bad thing to eat.
This morning I woke up late with a splitting headache, and decided a shower might help. Well, it did help, until I stepped out of the shower only to find my toilet had overflowed (keep in mind, it hadn't been used since the night before, so it was normal good water). 3 towels for the floor and 1 for me, and that problem was solved... until I ran the dishwasher and washing machine at the same time, in which case it almost overflowed again. Luckily I stopped it from filling up by strategically jamming the plunger into the back basin in order for it all to drain. Also, luckily about 5 minutes later I heard a loud rushing sound from somewhere in the middle of the house and in a matter of seconds all my problems were solved. Great start for the week.
Now, let's get to the next 4 days:
Monday: Class most of the day until 5:15, followed by a Thermo test at 5:30 and a Bible Study immedietly after. Estimated time till bed? 11 or 12. Estimated time to study on Monday? 2 hours.
Tuesday: Class till 11, then workout, then 4 hours to study and do a massive HW assignment for my next class. Class at 5:30 until 7, followed by CRU until 11 (I'm the emcee so I kind of have to be there). Estimated time to study all day? 4 hours.
Wednesday: Short amount of time to study in the morning, followed by a CRU planning meeting immedietly followed by 1 test, then 2 test, then another class, then a 3 hour lab until 10pm. Two tests and no more than 1 hour to study.
Thursday: Class till 11, then workout, then 4 hours to study for final test of the week. Freedom.
FOUR TESTS. A substancial homework assignment due in every single class I have a test in. I have been doing those homework assignments most of this weekend because they were just assigned last week (and I had other stuff due last week), and have had no time to study for any of the tests other than mild prep for my test tomorrow. Four tests with about 2 hours of total prep behind the first one, 5 hours of prep behind the next two (combined), and another four behind the final one. And knowing me, I don't have the ability to study for 4 hours straight without going crazy.
So here's my thought:
D for Diploma.
Translation:
I don't care. Better luck next test week.
Is there a bright side anywhere in this gloomy post? YES!!!
There will only be 4 days of hell as opposed to 5 (I love having Fridays off this semester). Also, the following Monday I get my braces off, and that next Thursday I'm flying to Orlando for the weekend (not for disney world tho)! So I hope and pray those two huge awesome things will help motivate me to survive this week. But I'll probably still stop caring come test #3 :)

Swords for 500
I've said the s-word (you know, the s-bomb, the 4 letter curse word that starts with the letter s, you know, shit) more times today than usual. Always loud enough that it's possible someone heard, but I'm really just talking to myself. A bad moment causes a good reaction that always adds a bit of fluff to how I feel when the bad thing happens. Yep. Good stuff, sometimes it's just one of those days where audibly saying how you feel does make you feel better. Even if someone is shocked and offended. How DARE he! Oh, I dare. I dare.
So after CRU tonight, I basically got back home as quickly as I possibly could. Just one of those days once again. I became sick of people. I do that a lot. I rarely get sick of individuals (hah, well, sometimes I DEFINITELY get sick of a few individuals), but groups of people... groups of people are something I get sick of quickly. Sometimes I enjoy it, sometimes it improves my day, sometimes it's lots of fun. But some days it is just too much. I have to get away. I want to get away more than I want to say "hello" or "goodbye" to a good friend that may be there. I just need to escape back into my own world. Sometimes that's motivated by anger, frustration, just being pissed off, while others I'd rather just do nothing than something. I'd rather watch a movie by myself, close my eyes and listen to music, organize and clean, do something that doesn't involve anyone. So today, after being around people constantly from 9:00am to 10:30pm, I realized I was done. I couldn't take anymore. Yes, I was frustrated and angry. But it was a cullmination of things. I would rather have done nothing from 6pm on to be honest... but sometimes life doesn't give us that option! So when I get an option, I take it, and I'm gone.
And now, I go. Tomorrow has a lot in store. I'll probably skip Linear (it's the day after a test, so whatever, I gift myself with skip sometimes), go to Statics at 12:45, do homework non-stop from 2:00pm until it's done, then get home for Mom's birthday. My goal is to finish all my main responsibilities before I head home for the birthday. I better. I have to.
Goodnight.

Painfully cold!
Yet incredibly real and amazing!
Last night, we had a little event on campus called Converge. It's become a yearly, poorly planned, lame excuse to get all the Christian organizations at UAH to come together for an hour or two of worship, speaker, and hanging out. An attempt at unity.
But last night was great. We weren't able to get any big rooms on campus, so we had to go outside by the University Center and do the event at the Slab. It was 34 degrees outside. About 150 people showed up, split pretty evenly between CRU, BCM, and RUF. And it actually felt slightly unifying, unlike most past attempts. We were one group. And I think the cold that we were so worried about ended up being the best thing for us. We were ALL cold. It's a small thing really, but it's a shared feeling.
Personally the past few weeks I've been living my life pretty numbly. And I've repeatedly acknowledged it and I've known what I should do to change it, but I haven't done crap. Last night was another nudge forward, and I thank the cold. I stood there with my only warm clothes (a UAH hoodie, jeans, and a light jacket) running the computer in the back, and as painful as it was, actually feeling cold was great. Feeling cold, looking up at the stars above (as many as you can see in Huntsville I suppose), looking out at 150 people that rarely interact, and worshipping... it really was a great night. And to put icing on the cake, nothing went wrong all night!
Yep... thank you God!
Next time (and there WILL be a next time), we're going to plan the event better, put more into it, and actually advertise. We really didn't start planning last night until last week which is crazy. I'm looking forward to next time.
And now, I'm hoping today will be just as good. I started it off by skipping class 1 (good or bad decision, I don't know), watched a funny movie with Dan, ate some leftover pizza, rushed to class 2 and arrived late, got a decent test score back, took an easy quiz, then came back here. And now I'm free. Completely and totally free. I have stuff due, but those things aren't due until next Tuesday at earliest. It's fantastic. The month of October is always a month hell school wise, so I'll appreciate any glimmer of light I can get, even if it gets snuffed an hour from now! Which it better not, by the way. Don't you dare snuff it.
