Remnants of Another World

What world? Hah, I'm still confused about that and what I can and can't say...

The past day I've been fairly bombarded with little reminding ques of this past summer. More so than usual. I got on gmail to find a support letter from a friend I met telling me about what she's doing, with 2 pictures included. That was awesome, I've been anxious to hear about what she's been up to. I always have a 2000+ picture slideshow running as my screensaver of the summer, but I rarely get to see it because I'm usually not there... but today taking a nap I woke up, saw the screen, and sat through about 10 minutes worth. Tonight, Dan's small group came over to hang out and one of the girls in it is from Hong Kong. She came in my room and started pointing at some stuff I bought and scolding me for spending too much on it, testing to see if I knew how to use chopsticks, etc. A few hours later, I randomly played chess, for the first time since I bought it, with Anna and got beat. Now everyone is gone and the day is over, and reminders are still floating in my head.

Wonderful... but not wonderful. Mostly wonderful. I live here. Sometimes I try not to live here... close myself off, watching 1 too many movies in a week, engross myself in stories, both fiction and non, while avoiding my own story. Then I remember that this summer was my story. And just because I'm not someplace that I deem to be cool doesn't mean that my story has to be dull and boring and not worth talking about. I'm here and it's good.
